For all of our wood items, it’s important to follow a few best practices to make sure your pieces last long lives.
Cutting Boards, Lazy Susans & Wine Bottle Holders
Firstly, never submerge or soak any wood item in water, as this can cause warping and cracking. To clean, simply use warm, soapy water (pure white vinegar is a fine alternative to soap) and a clean cloth or sponge. Wipe the wood down with the soapy solution, then rinse thoroughly. When finished, dry your piece promptly.
To properly maintain the wood and keep it from drying it out, we recommend oiling with mineral oil or other food-grade oil several times a year. For arid climates and on our cutting boards we recommend this be done more often, anywhere from once a month to once every few months, depending on use frequency, climate, and environment.
To apply the oil, use a clean, soft cloth or paper towel and apply the oil in an even layer over the wood. Let it soak in for at least several hours (more is fine). After soaking, wipe away the excess with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel.
Urns & Keepsake Boxes
We recommend using a microfiber cloth for dusting purposes. For cleaning, any mild furniture polish specifically formulated for wood may be used. Avoid soaps or any other cleaners.
