Janessa Trujillo is dedicated to helping formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reenter their communities. She has extensive experience supporting low-income families with job training, case management, and resource connections. Before joining Fathers Building Futures (FBF), she worked with low-income families, managing over 100 cases and later leading a team. In 2022, she joined FBF as the Client Outcomes Manager, teaching life skills and providing reentry support to incarcerated individuals. Now, as the Director of Program Services, Janessa oversees daily operations, supports staff, develops programs, and builds partnerships with correctional facilities, employers, and community organizations. She also oversees grant administration and evaluates the program’s effectiveness. With a background in Criminology and Psychology, Janessa is passionate about breaking the cycle of incarceration and helping individuals create stable, successful futures.

Joseph Shaw
Director, Non-Profit Operations
Joseph Shaw, Director of Nonprofit Operations at Fathers Building Futures, began as a client in 2012 after incarceration. In long-term recovery, he has firsthand experience with addiction, crime, and transformation. He is dedicated to helping fathers like himself; Joseph shares his journey and skills to support others' growth. Overcoming personal and professional barriers, one of his proudest achievements is being a single father. Joseph has served on multiple boards, including Viante NM, the Albuquerque Community Foundation’s Community Impact Panel, and the Criminal Justice Institute's working group. He is the past president of the New Mexico Reentry Center and the current Vice President of the Behavioral Health Advisory Board created by Bernalillo County. With certifications in OSHA 10, OSHA 30 NCCER basic construction safety training, Welding, CCSS, and CPSW, Joseph continues to empower fathers at FBF, helping them seize their second chance and build better futures.

Katie Manning
Client Outcomes Manager
Katie Manning, Client Outcomes Manager at Fathers Building Futures (FBF), is deeply passionate about supporting underserved populations and promoting healing through trauma-informed care. With over 500 hours of Trauma-Informed Yoga training and a strong background in non-profit work, Katie creates safe, empowering spaces that foster resilience, self-compassion, and emotional well-being. She works closely with clients to develop personalized goals, addressing key barriers like housing, transportation, healthcare, family reunification, and employment. Her one-on-one case management ensures each individual receives the guidance and support needed for successful re-entry. Katie also leads group classes on life skills, trauma-informed practices, financial literacy, and parenting—equipping clients with tools to manage stress and build emotional regulation. She is committed to continuously tracking client outcomes, adjusting services to meet evolving needs, and coordinating trainings for both clients and staff. Katie actively builds strong community partnerships to expand resources and support systems that help clients thrive on their path to long-term success.

Jose Nunez
Peer Client Support Worker
Jose Nunez is a Peer Support Worker at Fathers Building Futures, having joined the team in December 2024. With a strong background in behavioral health, Jose has accumulated extensive experience in various roles, including Social Emotional and Social Communication Worker with APS and Rio Rancho, where he supported students in early special education. Additionally, he has worked as a Mental Health Technician, helping adolescents navigate substance abuse challenges, and as a Geriatric Social Worker, providing care for elderly individuals dealing with mental health issues. Driven by a passion for helping others, Jose’s long-term goal is continued with school and pursuing a career as an Art Therapist, blending his expertise in behavioral health with his love for creative expression and healing.

Richard Webb
Wood Shop Training Facilitator
Richard Webb is a master craftsman technician at Fathers Building Futures (FBF), where he has served for over 12 years. Initially joining FBF as a client after his release from prison in 2013, Richard brings a wealth of experience in handyman work, landscaping, painting, remodeling, and a powerful personal story of overcoming incarceration and addiction. Today, he leads the woodworking area, teaching safety, craftsmanship, and professional development to clients seeking a second chance. Richard is known for his mentorship, offering individualized guidance that extends even beyond graduation. Certified in OSHA 10, OSHA 30, NCCER Basic Construction Safety Training, CPR/First Aid and AED, Richard is a vital part of FBF’s mission.
