We currently use eight different kinds of wood, and most of them are classified as hardwoods. They are white maple, African mahogany, poplar, cherry, cedar, walnut, red oak, alder, and sugar pine. For our very popular cutting boards, we use eight of these woods (all but sugar pine, which is too soft).
We use them for a variety of reasons. As mentioned, most of them are hardwoods, which make them excellent for our very popular cutting boards. We also selected them for their unique aesthetic properties, like the iconic deep brown walnut, the rich red cedar, and the classic bright white maple.
We use a local lumber yard right here in Albuquerque. All of our woods are non-threatened species, too.

Yes, the cutting boards are all natural and made with entirely food safe processes, including wood safe glues and treatments. We do not use peanut oil or any other potential allergen on our cutting boards, either. They are also handmade and not mass produced.

Yes, our caskets have been certified kosher by a local rabbi right here in Albuquerque. They include a 5 year warranty, and are guaranteed made with no metal or animal byproducts of any kind.
When a wine bottle is placed in the holder, the combination of the weight and the precise 45 degree angle allow the unit to stand. The wine bottle can be empty or full, and anything in between. The key to everything is the very precise 45 degree cut. If off only slightly, standing would not be possible.

Because our items are high-quality, handmade, substantial woodcraft products, they are quite heavy. Many online retailers offer free shipping, but their products weigh a fraction of ours, and are often also much lower quality. Due to this high weight, we charge shipping in order to help cover a portion of our shipping costs. We strive to keep our prices low, and we feel our shipping fees are very reasonable. And don’t forget, we do offer free shipping on any order of $150!

Because we buy our wood directly from a lumber yard, we pay very up-to-date prices for each wood type. The price of wood, like many resource items, shifts depending on availability and the current market. The demand for certain woods is traditionally higher due to unique characteristics and popularity. In the case of our woods, walnut and African mahogany are prized for their durability and distinct color and grain, respectively. All of these factors influence the raw material price, which in turn impacts our price on finished products.
